True World Foods Expo 2019 Report
On Sunday, September 8th, True World Foods held the "True World Foods Expo 2019" which aimed to promote the food culture of Japan, at The Metropolitan Pavilion in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood (125 W 18th St).
Following the inaugural expo held last year in 2018 (which drew 1,200 attendees), this year's second expo showcased roughly 52 food-related companies from the United States and abroad that specialized in the highest quality seafood, as well as the most popular Japanese food from around the world.
The main event of the Expo was the "Tuna Cutting Demonstration," which was held twice - at 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM showcasing fresh toro, chu-toro, and akami carved fresh by Executive Chefs from high-end NYC restaurants like Onodera, Blue Ribbon Sushi, Juku, and Sushi Ryusei. Over 1,400 attendees enjoyed Hon-Maguro and various fresh sushi-grade fish and sampled the latest trends in Japanese food - making this one of the largest sushi events in NYC.
Throughout the day, the event offered tastings of fresh fish such as tuna, yellowtail, salmon, caviar, and uni, the ever-popular Wagyu Beef and Sakura pork, mini ramen and poke bowls, as well as various desserts using Matcha tea as a key ingredient.
Show-goers could even try Sea Squirt or Sea Pineapple, flown in from the Miyagi Prefecture in Japan. There was something to satisfy and delight the taste buds of all foodies in attendance.
In the "Toyosu Culinary Workshop" section, famous David Bouhadana, from Sushi Bou, presented a variety of fresh fish sourced from the celebrated new Toyosu Fish Market in Tokyo. The workshop was presented in the Omakase style, which meant David and his fellow chefs choose which fish to prepare and offer as sashimi samples to the crowd of hungry spectators
Additionally, Japan's high-class kitchen knife brand "Aoki Cutlery" (Kashiwa, Osaka) sold its wares at special promotion prices only on this day. Another service offered by True World Foods, both selling the knives and in some of their centers, even a knife sharpening service. As an added treat, those purchasing one of these beautiful knives could have their name engraved into the blade while at the show!
Not just an incredible offering of specialty fresh and frozen seafood, knives and restaurant supplies; show-goers were able to see all of the True World Foods' specialty products under their Fish Bay, Homare, and True World Foods brands underscoring True World Foods' ability to supply everything a sushi restaurant would need!
The 2019 Expo was another great showcase event exemplifying the reasons True World Foods is the leading supplier of all the products and supplies a sushi restaurant would need to satisfy their customers no matter where they are located throughout the United States, Canada, England, Spain, and beyond! See everyone next year!
